Police Officers Charged with Child Abuse

CHARLOTTE, NC — Two police officers who live in York County are in the Mecklenburg County Jail, accused of abusing their own baby.
Robert “Jeff” Taylor is charged with felony child abuse and felony neglect. Β Audrey Schurig is charged with felony neglect. Β Police arrested the couple in Charlotte Friday, where their 3-month-old is being treated at Levine Children’s Hospital.
Taylor resigned from the York Police Department earlier this week. Β He faces 20 years in prison if convicted.
Neighbors say the could recently moved to a home in Rock Hill and didn’t know them well. Β Schurig is suspended without pay from the York Police Department. Β She faces 10 years in prison if convicted.
