Man Found Dead Inside Car in Salisbury; Police Searching for Suspect

SALISBURY, NC – Friends and family are remembering a 24-year-old Salisbury man found shot in his car Saturday morning.

Miguel Urrutia’s cousin wrote on Facebook “It sickens me to continue to hear about our loved ones being killed over foolishness. RIP cuz! Love you! You will be missed!!”
Police responded to the intersection of Old Mocksville Road and Hawkinstown Road just after 6:30 Saturday morning for what they thought was a car accident.
When they arrived, they found a black Chrysler 200 in the ditch with Urrutia inside.  Witnesses say a second person got out of the car and into another one before leaving.  Neighbors say they want to know more about what happened.
“I don’t know whether I should be more concerned or not, kind of freaks my wife out a little bit. We have two small children, so she’s a little more concerned at this point than I am,” says Salisbury resident Justin Spears.
One year ago, WCCB Charlotte interviewed Urrutia about a triple-shooting in his neighborhood.  At the time, he expressed safety concerns.
“We have kids in the neighborhood and it’s just real bad. It’s unsafe,” Urrutia said.
One of Urrutia’s Facebook friends called the shooting senseless, writing, “Now another family is broken. Children will grow up without a father. Another mother sheds tears.”
