MINT HILL, NC — A suspected child predator with a violent past is finally in jail after a five-month search. Β 40-year-old Rayvon Howard faces 16 counts of various child sexual abuse charges.

Mecklenburg County deputies caught him at a Charlotte night club on Saturday. Β From 2011 to 2012, police say Howard was sexually abusing his friend’s little girl in Mint Hill. Β Warrants for his arrest include four for child rape, four for sexual offense with a child, and eight for indecent liberties with a child.

“It’s a situation that parents need to be aware of,” said Detective Tim Lezett of Mint Hill Police.  "Be aware of who your children are around.” Β He continued, “I wouldn’t want anybody to go through what this particular victim went through.”

Howard has a lengthy criminal record. Β In 2010, he finished a two-year federal prison sentence for a felon in possession of a firearm conviction. Β From 2013 to 2014, he served three sentences for assault on a female, assault with a deadly weapon, and interfering with emergency communication.
