MINT HILL, NC — A suspected child predator with a violent past is finally in jail after a five-month search.  40-year-old Rayvon Howard faces 16 counts of various child sexual abuse charges.

Mecklenburg County deputies caught him at a Charlotte night club on Saturday.  From 2011 to 2012, police say Howard was sexually abusing his friend’s little girl in Mint Hill.  Warrants for his arrest include four for child rape, four for sexual offense with a child, and eight for indecent liberties with a child.

“It’s a situation that parents need to be aware of,” said Detective Tim Lezett of Mint Hill Police.  "Be aware of who your children are around.”  He continued, “I wouldn’t want anybody to go through what this particular victim went through.”

Howard has a lengthy criminal record.  In 2010, he finished a two-year federal prison sentence for a felon in possession of a firearm conviction.  From 2013 to 2014, he served three sentences for assault on a female, assault with a deadly weapon, and interfering with emergency communication.
