CHARLOTTE, NC– Police have charged a Charlotte man for his involvement in five bomb threats.

On Monday March 9, police say they responded to West Mecklenburg High School, in reference to a bomb threat.

Three additional threats were reportedly made on March 9, one at the Transit Center and two at Central Piedmont Community College on Elizabeth Avenue.

A week later on Wednesday, March 18, police say they responded to a bomb threat at BiLo on Ashley Road then moments later responded to a threat at Walmart on Wilkinson Boulevard.

“In this case, there were some evacuations, which is disruptive to any business, and that’s unfortunate in this struggling economy,” said CMPD Capt. Steven Brochu.

After gathering evidence, authorities identified the suspect as Ammiel Maurice Harris, 32.

Harris was arrested on the 2400 block of Kingspark Drive and is being charged with five counts of false bomb report.  He is being held on $25,000 bond.
