LOS ANGELES (AP) β€” James Corden is in place as the new host of CBS’ “The Late Late Show.”

The British performer made his debut Monday night with help from guests Tom Hanks and Mila Kunis.

A comedy video detailed how the British-born Corden purportedly landed and prepared for the job. The video featured celebrities including Meryl Streep, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jay Leno as a tough mentor.

Corden is a TV star in his native England and won a Tony Award for the play “One Man, Two Guvnors” on Broadway. He co-stars in the film “Into the Woods.”

Cordon, who followed Craig Ferguson as host of “The Late Late Show,” is part of major changes for CBS late-night. David Letterman is retiring from “Late Show” in May, with Stephen Colbert taking over in September.
