Β CHARLOTTE, N.C.– A Β man led Police on a two-hour chase through multiple counties around 10:30 Friday night.
Police say that Jonathan McCorkle, 28, was involved in the pursuit that began in Charlotte and then proceeded to Interstate 85 in Gaston County. Β During the pursuit, CMPDβs Aviation Unit played a major role in his capture along with assistance from the North Carolina Highway Patrol. Β The policeΒ helicopter kept a spotlight on the car as officers on the ground followed.
McCorkle exited the highway and re-entered Mecklenburg County several times asΒ state troopers used stop sticks on I-77 to blow out the tires on his vehicle.
Police were able to pin the vehicle at East Boulevard butΒ McCorkle then got out and ran. Police caught up with him and he was taken in to custody in the 800 block of W. Kingston Avenue.Β

McCorkle was wanted by the CMPD, Monroe PD and Rock Hill PD for outstanding warrants. Β He also faces charges stemming from Friday night’s incidents.
