CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD is working with local middle schoolers to reduce youth violence in the Queen City.  64 students were recognized Monday night in the 2015 “Do The Write Thing Essay Challenge”.  The kids were asked to examine youth violence and make personal commitments to do something about it.

“I can’t say enough about it,” said Mecklenburg County District Attorney Andrew Murray.  “As DA, we certainly are on the same team.  All of us are trying to prevent any kind of violence or any type of illegal activity that permeates through our schools or system.”

One boy and one girl were selected to go to Washington, D.C. to represent Mecklenburg County in the national Do The Write Thing Essay Challenge this summer.
