BASEBALL: NC State powers past Charlotte in Uptown Charlotte

Charlotte, NC (WCCB) – Freshman Joe Dunand went 2-for-4 with four RBI to pace a 15-hit NC State to a 10-6 win over Charlotte on Tuesday evening at BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte.

NC State improves to 18-9 with the win while Charlotte falls to 10-13 in defeat.

Dunand hit a solo home-run in the fourth inning to add to a 3-2 lead. He also added insurance runs in the ninth inning with a 2-RBI double.

NC State’s Ryan Williamson (2-1) struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings to pick up the win.

Charlotte fell behind 6-2 before plating three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Luke Gibbs went 2-for-3 with 2-RBI to lead the 49ers.

Charlotte returns to action this weekend with a three-game set at Old Dominion. It’s the start of a stretch of seven games on the road.
