CHARLOTTE, NC — Seven non-profits were honored Tuesday for their service to the Charlotte community. Β
Mayor Dan Clodfelter marked the Third Annual Mayor’s Day for Recognition of National Service at the Faith Memorial Baptist Church in west Charlotte. Β All the non-profits honored rely on Americorps members to accomplish their mission each year.
“We got volunteers today and organizations like Americorps and Senior Corps, Teach for America. Β All of those organizations that really do stand out and make the community a better place,” said Mayor Clodfelter.
The Americorps program is funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service, the nation’s largest grant maker.
