LOS ANGELES (AP) β€” Adrian Gonzalez hit three home runs last night, becoming the first player in major league history with five in the season’s first three games, as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres 7-4. Gonzalez received his Silver Slugger award from last season before the game. Then he went out and had a four-hit game to go with consecutive three-hit games on Monday and Tuesday. NEW YORK (AP) β€” Authorities say Indiana Pacers forward Chris Copeland, his girlfriend and another woman were stabbed early Wednesday morning following an argument on the street near a Manhattan nightclub. Police say the dispute escalated until the suspect pulled out a knife and started slashing. Atlanta Hawks players Pero Antic and Thabo Sefolosha (TAH’-boh seh-feh-LOH’-shah) were at the club but not with Copeland when they were arrested after police said they blocked officers from trying to start their investigation into the stabbings.

PHOENIX (AP) β€” Phoenix Suns forwards Marcus and Markieff (mahr-KEEF’) Morris are being investigated on allegations they beat a former mentor. Phoenix police say they are seeking aggravated assault charges against the Morris twins and three others in the alleged January attack. Police documents show Erik Hood was leaving a basketball game Jan. 24 at a Phoenix sports complex when he was approached by one of the five before being repeatedly kicked and hit.
