The 21-year-old Davis had lost the only career meeting with Bouchard, but was in control much of the way against the world’s seventh-ranked player.
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) β College of Charleston coach Earl Grant said 6-foot-11 sophomore Glen Pierre Jr. is leaving the program. Grant announced Pierre’s intentions Wednesday. Pierre, from Orlando, Florida, played 41 games with the Cougars. He averaged 1.0 points, 1.5 rebounds and less than one block a game during his time at Charleston.

WASHINGTON (AP) β President Barack Obama has congratulated the Duke men’s and University of Connecticut women’s teams on winning the NCAA basketball championships. The White House says Obama telephoned UConn coach Geno Auriemma (aw-ree-EH’-muh) on Wednesday and called Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski (shuh-SHEF’-skee) on Tuesday.
