SEATTLE (AP) β€” Vocalist Chris Cornell is weighing in on a dispute over who owns the master recording tapes from a defining album of the grunge era β€” “Temple of the Dog,” which he recorded with members of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam in 1990.

Cornell says it “makes no sense” for the co-founder of the Seattle studio where the album was recorded to claim he owns the tapes.

A&M Records sued Raj Parashar of London Bridge Studios in state court in March, demanding he turn over the tapes, and Parashar had the case transferred to federal court last week. His lawyer confirmed to The Seattle Times that Parashar has the tapes, but said they belonged to him.

In a statement Tuesday, Cornell said the record label paid for the recordings and the use of the studio, and Parashar has no claim to the tapes.
