CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Officials say a NFL player was cut from the Detroit Lions after being arrested in Charlotte on domestic assault charges.
The Lions’ guard Rodney Austin was arrested on Friday. He has been charged with assault on a female, assault on a child under 12, interfering with emergency communication and larceny.
The alleged incident happened at an apartment complex on Cameron Forest Lane in South Charlotte.
He was released from jail on a $2,250 bond. Austin is accused of shoving his ex-girlfriend while she was holding a child. Police say he then took the woman’s phone so she could not call 911.
Austin’s agent told TMZ, “There is a process to this. At the end of that process, I am confident that this will be clear to everybody is a nonissue,” said Mark Magazu.
