Police: Teenagers Beat Man Unconscious Before Stealing His Van

CHARLOTTE,NC– Police have arrested two teenagers who they say beat a man until he was unconscious and then took his van.

Reports say on April 17th someone found an employee of Ritz Cleaners on Albemarle Road laying on the ground.  Police determined the man was beaten and knocked unconscious.  

The next day, the victim’s family contacted police claiming his vehicle was taken from the parking lot of the cleaners.

Police located the alleged suspects, Laquan Burns and Josiah Jn-Marie, driving the stolen vehicle on the campus of East Meck High School.  The suspects ran from police but were eventually taken into custody.

Police say Jn-Marie confessed to knocking the victim unconscious and stealing his car keys.  He then told police the duo went back to the business later that evening and stole the victim’s van.

Burns was charged with resisting arrest and obstruct and delay. Marie was charged with common law robbery, assault inflicting serious injury, larceny of motor vehicle, possession of stolen vehicle, hit and run, obstruct and delay and resisting arrest.
