Β CHARLOTTE, N.C.– Β A man has died after an early morning crash in South Charlotte Saturday morning.Β

Officials say that around Β 7:15 Saturday morning, John Gregoraschuk, 19, Β was driving a 1993 Chevrolet pickup on Carmel Road when he drove his car across the double yellow line and into the oncoming lane. Gregoraschukβs vehicle was then struck head-on by a 1999 Chevrolet 3500 box truck being driven by Eleuterio Sanchez Cruz.

According to Medic, Cruz and another occupant of the box truck were transported to Carolinas Medical Center Pineville with minor injuries. John Gregoraschuk was pronounced deceased at the crash scene.

Police say that speed or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash at this time and the occupants of both vehicles were wearing seatbelts.

No charges have been filed at this time.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Major Crash Investigation Unit of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department. Any witnesses are being asked to call Detective Kevin Allred at (704) 432-2169.
