CHARLOTTE, N.C.– The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has charged Rogelio Marin Ramirez, 24, with Sexual Battery after they say he assaulted a woman at an apartment complex near UNC Charlotte.Β
Police say that on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Β 9:30 p.m., Β officers responded to the 9000 block of University City Boulevard for an assault call. Upon the officers arrival, the victim told Police that she was walking from the parking deck to her apartment when Ramirez approached her in the hallway and Β began to assault her. He fled the scene once other residents entered the hallway. Β

The victim returned to her apartment and immediately called 911. Β Officers circulated the area but were unsuccessful in finding the suspect.Β

Officials say that they worked closely with the management of the apartment complex in notifying residents about the assault and with assistance from the UNC Charlotte Police Department, detectives were able to identify Ramirez as the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest. Β

Officerβs found and arrested Β Ramirez without incident at his home on Sunday morning. Ramirez was then transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriffβs Office where he was charged with Sexual Battery. Β
