Man Shot and Killed in East Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Detectives with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are on the scene of a homicide investigation in east Charlotte. 
 
Authorities say the shooting happened on St. Johns Church Road around 4 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a man shot multiple times. He was transported to Carolinas Medical Center where he later died. 
 
Detectives are currently searching the area for the shooter. They say this is not a random act of violence and the shooting stemmed from some sort of altercation.
 
This is the 24th homicide of the year.
