Investigators say 16-year-old Grayson Ferrell shot Lt. James Quattlebalm in the stomach.

“He was ranting and raving, yelling at the officers, cursing at them, all kinds of stuff,” says next door neighbor John Roeder.

They say things boiled over Saturday morning when Ferrell confronted police. “Oh, he’s punching, yelling, screaming, talking about drugs, all kinds of stuff,” Roeder says.

Neighbors say they then heard four or five shots. According to police, Lieutenant Quattlebalm was stilll alert and conscious after the shooting and is expected to recover.
