3 Eclipse Award winners on tap to race Iroquois Steeplechase

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) β€” Three winners of the Eclipse Award for the best steeplechase horse in the land will square off in the $150,000 Iroquois Steeplechase on Saturday.

Demonstrative, Divine Fortune and Pierrot Lunaire will face two challengers in the 3-mile race over 18 national hurdles at Percy Warner Park with each carrying 158 pounds. The contest is rated Grade 1 by the National Steeplechase Association.

Demonstrative, racing in the colors of Jacqueline Ohrstrom of The Plains, Virginia, won the 2014 Eclipse Award after winning Grade 1 races at Saratoga, Belmont Park and Far Hills, New Jersey.

Divine Fortune, the 2013 Eclipse winner for owner Bill Pape of Unionville, Pennsylvania, won the Iroquois last year. Pierrot Lunaire won the Eclipse in 2012 and won the Iroquois in 2009.
