MATTHEWS, N.C.– A school bus transporting students from Porter Ridge Middle School had a mechanical issue Monday afternoon. Β
The incident happened on bus #302 at the intersection of Mt. Harmony Church Road and Stevens Mill Road. Β
Antifreeze was dispersed into the area where students were sitting filing it with smoke. Β One student was transported to Carolinas Medical Center with life threatening injuries. Β
Two other students were transported by their parents for medical treatment.
The remaining students were taken home by a different bus. Β
