MATTHEWS, N.C.– A school bus transporting students from Porter Ridge Middle School had a mechanical issue Monday afternoon.
The incident happened on bus #302 at the intersection of Mt. Harmony Church Road and Stevens Mill Road.
Antifreeze was dispersed into the area where students were sitting filing it with smoke. One student was transported to Carolinas Medical Center with life threatening injuries.
Two other students were transported by their parents for medical treatment.
The remaining students were taken home by a different bus.
