CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Pounding the pavement for a good cause.  Hundreds of runners took to the streets in Uptown Charlotte on Saturday participating in the 5th Annual Keep Pounding 5K.

The race, which raises awareness and funds for pediatric research at the Levine Children’s Hospital, began at the hospital and ended  as runners ran through the tunnel at Bank of America Stadium.

WCCB-TV is a proud sponsor of Keep Pounding and our own Kaitlin Cody, Meteorologist on WCCB News Rising, emceed the event.

The Carolina Panthers Keep Pounding efforts are in memory of former Panthers player and assistant coach Sam Mills.  Mills coined the Keep Pounding slogan after being diagnosed with cancer in 2003.
