Alleged Gang Member Accused Of Ordering Hit On Lake Wylie Couple Wants Charges Thrown Out

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man who federal officials say is responsible for three gang-related murders is asking a judge to dismiss his charges.

Jamell Cureton, an alleged high-ranking gang member of the United Blood Nation, is accused of ordering a hit on Doug and Debbie London last October. Β The couple were killed at their home in Lake Wylie. Β

Investigators say Cureton ordered the hit so Doug London could not testify against Cureton and other members of the Blood gang after they allegedly tried to rob his family owned mattress business. Β

Cureton claims FBI officials unlawfully searched his jail cell, taking documents that included legal strategy him and his attorney would use in his case, which comprises his right to a fair trial.

Cureton’s attorney, Chiege Okwara, says the information taken during the search was used against Cureton.

During the raid, agents found several pictures of a local judge who was presiding over Cureton’s case and other public officials. Β Those officials were placed into protective custody after the raid and the judge stepped down from the case.

Cureton claims the FBI also slandered his name and image by releasing information from the raid to the media. Β
