Teen Accused of Shooting Cornelius Police Officer Indicted by Grand Jury

Β CORNELIUS, NC — A teenager accused of shooting a Cornelius police officer has been indicted by a Grand Jury.

16-year-old Greyson Ferrell is charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault on a government official, and possession of a gun by a minor.

Investigators say Ferrell shot Lieutenant James Quattlebaum earlier this month during a domestic disturbance at the teen’s home. Β

Ferrell’s attorney says police fired first, and that Ferrell’s shotgun accidentally discharged when he fell down the stairs.
