GREER, S.C. (AP) β Australia’s Rod Pampling shot a 9-under 63 yesterday at The Reserve at Lake Keowee to take the first-round lead in the Web.com Tour’s BMW Charity Pro-Am. The 45-year-old Pampling birdied five of his last six holes.
CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) β Marcquise Reed, who helped Robert Morris to the NCAA Tournament last season, has transferred to Clemson. Reed averaged 15.1 points in his freshman season with the Colonials. Reed scored 19 points as Robert Morris won its opening NCAA game. He had 22 points in a loss to eventual champion Duke. Reed was named the Northeast Conference rookie of the year. Reed will sit out next season before playing for the Tigers.
ZEBULON, N.C. (AP) β The Carolina Mudcats’ series at Myrtle Beach this week has been canceled after the team’s bus wrecked on its way to South Carolina. Carolina League President John Hopkins said Wednesday that the Mudcats have returned home, and players and field staff will continue to be medically evaluated. The three-game series was supposed to conclude yesterday.
DURHAM, N.C. (AP) β Duke has announced its full incoming freshman class. Yesterday, the reigning national champions added four recruits to the roster, led by forward Brandon Ingram and point guard Derryck Thornton. Coach Mike Krzyzewski says it’s “one of the most well-rounded classes and talented classes” he’s brought to Duke.
