CHARLOTTE, NC — A Mallard Creek High School football player accused of raping a freshman on campus could be allowed back at school is he posts bond.  18-year-old Jonathan Neal is charged with second-degree rape by force.

If released, he must wear an ankle monitor and will only be allowed to leave home for school.  A 14-year-old girl says the senior defensive end assaulted her inside the school at around 3:40 Thursday afternoon.

“The first word that comes to my mind is fear and concern for the child and her mother,” said northeast Charlotte resident Carol Wade.  “And if something like that could happen, what could I do as a mother to prevent it.”

Neal also faces assault and shoplifting charges in an unrelated case.
