UPDATE: The Union County Department of Health says a total of 174 people have been treated for having gastrointestinal illnesses in the county since May 20th. The cause is unknown at this time.
The most common symptoms reported are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramping and loss of appetite. The symptomatic employees and students have been excluded from work/school until they are asymptomatic for 48 hours.
UNION COUNTY, N.C. — More than two dozen students got sick at an elementary school in Union County.
Officials say 20 to 30 students at Shiloh Elementary School reported having gastrointestinal issues Thursday and Friday. The school official said this does not appear to be food related.
Cleaning crews plan to disinfect the school over the holiday weekend.
