CLEVELAND (AP) β The Cleveland Cavaliers are playing for a spot in the NBA Finals tonight. In front of their own fans, the Cavs are hosting Atlanta in the fourth game of their best-of-seven series. The LeBron James-led team has won the first three games of the series.
TAMPA (AP) β Tampa Bay hopes to finish off the New York Rangers in the NHL’s Eastern Conference final tonight with a win on home ice. Should the Rangers take this evening’s game, a seventh and deciding game will be played in New York Friday night.
ST. LOUIS (AP) β The St. Louis Blues are bringing back Ken Hitchcock as coach. He has led St. Louis to an NHL-best 175-79-27 regular-season record during his tenure, but the club has had little success in the postseason. This season, they had the third-best record in franchise history with 109 points but lost in the first round to Minnesota.
PARIS (AP) β This was Day 3 at the French Open and there were no surprises. Among the winners were Rafael Nadal (rah-fay-ehl nah-DAHL’), Novak Djokovic (NOH’-vak JOH’-kuh-vich) and Serena Williams. The American is looking for her 20th career Grand Slam title in this year’s Open.
CINCINNATI (AP) β Cincinnati’s Reds are suffering through some tough times. The oldest professional baseball team has lost its last nine straight games. The club record is 11 in a row, set back in 1998. Tonight the Reds are playing host to Colorado.
