Knights down Clippers on Memorial Day

CHARLOTTE, NC (WCCB) – Charlotte’s Matt Davidson hit a three-run go-ahead home run in the fifth inning to lead the Knights to an 8-6 win over Columbus on Monday night at BB&T Ballpark. It was Davidson’s seventh home run of the season.
Charlotte improves to 25-19 on the season.
The Knights fell behind 1-0 before plating four runs in the second. George Kottaras hit his first home run of the season, a two-run shot, and Micah Johnson plated a run with an RBI single.
Relief pitcher Daniel Webb (1-1) picked up the win after throwing 2.2 innings of hit-less and scoreless ball. Jairo Asencio struck out three batters in a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his ninth save of the season.
Charlotte plays game two of their seven game homestand on Tuesday at BB&T Ballpark with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05.
