TROUTMAN, N.C. — Police say a senior prank ended with a local high school be evacuated after a school resource officer heard a beeping noise inside a locker.
Officers say the unused locker also had a key style lock on it. The SRO immediately evacuated South Iredell High School school and a K-9 bomb-detection dog searched the school but did not find anything hazardous.
During the investigation, officials found out about a message that was sent on social media about a student doing this as a prank during senior week.
Police were able to determine who sent out the message and who had the key to the locker. Once the locker was opened police say they found two alarm clocks set for different times with a ‘Class of 2015’ note inside.
Two students are in ‘investigative detention’ and could possibly be charged with perpetrating a hoax by use of false bomb or other device.
