Β RALEIGH, NC — Women who want to get an abortion in North Carolina are closer to having to wait 72 hours. Β 

A State Senate committee passed a bill Wednesday that extends the abortion wait period from 24 hours to three days. Β The State House passed the measure in April.

Lawmakers believe the extra time will help women make a more informed decision. Β Critics say it’s patronizing and dangerous.
