RALEIGH, NC — Women who want to get an abortion in North Carolina are closer to having to wait 72 hours.
A State Senate committee passed a bill Wednesday that extends the abortion wait period from 24 hours to three days. The State House passed the measure in April.
Lawmakers believe the extra time will help women make a more informed decision. Critics say it’s patronizing and dangerous.
