Β UNION COUNTY, NC — Some Union County parents want surveillance cameras in all of the district’s special education classrooms. Β They’ll speak at Tuesday night’s Board of Education meeting.

The request comes after one parent used a secret recorder to listen in on how teachers treated her special needs son.

“If there is something that takes place in the classroom, there’s not a whole lot that can be done as far as criminally, because there’s a lack of evidence,” said Marshville resident Amy Oster.

At least one Union County school board member, Gary Sides, tells us he backs the parents’ request for cameras. Β A bill to put cameras in all special ed classes just passed the Texas House.
