Police Investigate Second Murder This Week in the Same Hickory Community

HICKORY, NC – Police are investigating two deadly shootings just five days apart in the same Hickory community. 23-year-old Octavis “Rondo” Geter is the latest victim. He was shot and killed early Saturday morning outside a party.

“He didn’t bother nobody, he didn’t say nothin’ to nobody,” says Geter’s cousin Rahshawn Williams.

Williams says he doesn’t know why someone targeted Geter. He says he and Geter went to see what was going on after they heard commotion in the street, coming from the party next door.

“Next thing I know, a guy come up outta nowhere, talkin about say, ‘there he go, right there,’ just start shootin,” Williams explains.
Police found Geter lying in the road on 2nd St. SE around 2:00am. He died at the hospital.
Neighbors here remain on edge. It is the second murder in this community in less than a week. Lancelot Ellison was shot and killed Monday at a home about 500 feet away on 8th Ave Dr. SE.  Tevin Davis turned himself in and was charged with the murder. He had just gotten out of jail on an assault charge May 23rd.
And arrest records also show the victim in today’s shooting, Geter, had just been arrested last month on drug charges.
His family hopes someone will step forward. “Whoever did it, all they got to do is just turn theyself in. Make it better. You know, for theyself, cause he didn’t bother nobody. He didn’t. He didn’t bother a soul,” says cousin Phyllis Williams.
