CHARLOTTE, NC — City Council has approved the 2016 budget.  Council members were divided 7 – 4 on the $2.13 billion funding package.

It includes a one cent property tax increase, the elimination of more than 100 vacant positions, and changes to solid waste fees.

The city had to close a $22 million gap after losing the business privilege license tax and a property tax revaluation that came in well below expectations.
