MOORESVILLE, NC — Students in Mooresville are giving back to make sure a fallen Forest Service Officer and his K-9 aren’t forgotten.  Jason Crisp and his K-9 partner Maros were ambushed in March of last year by a murder suspect in Burke County.

Monday, third graders at Lakeshore Elementary presented a Mooresville PD K-9 with a bulletproof vest in honor of Crisp and Maros.

“I wasn’t expecting this much at all,” said Officer Crisp’s wife, Amanda.  “I was blown away by how much hard work and effort went into this.”

One K-9 bulletproof vest costs about $1,500.  Students raised the money by selling necklaces, bracelets and dog collars.
