CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — A man was severely burned after a shake-and-bake meth lab blew up early Thursday morning. It happened at a home on Tory Road south of Pageland, SC.
Chesterfield County Sheriff Jay Brooks told WCCB that Kenneth Milles, 51, was cooking meth in his bedroom when it exploded. Milles received second and third degree burns over half of his body and rushed to the hospital.
Milles’ 72-year-old mother was also in the residence, but didn’t know what happened. She was treated at the scene.
The original call came in at 1:15 a.m. as a house fire, but Sheriff Brooks says there was little damage to the house.
Charges are pending against Milles for conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine.
