CHARLOTTE, NC — Hours of debate.  A few changes along the way.  But Mecklenburg County Commissioners have decided to approve the County Manager’s recommended budget for the next fiscal year.

Commissioners did make several additions to the budget, including adding $250,000 in service grants for local agencies.  Board members praised the efforts of County Manager Dena Diorio in crafting the $1.6 billion budget, while adding some new positions in Parks and Recreation and Public Safety.

“We’re in a position that we can continue to move our county forward,” said County Commission Chair Trevor Fuller (D).  “We were able to afford things that we can continue to move us forward without raising our tax rate.”

The board plans to approve the budget next Tuesday, June 16 at the next Commission meeting.
