CHARLOTTE, NC — Late Tuesday night, Commissioners officially approved the county’s $1.6 billion budget.  As expected it keeps the property tax rate the same.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools are getting nearly $14 million more than last year, and a one-time payment of $4 million for maintenance and technology.

The budget also includes an average three percent raise for county employees, and a 1.77 cent tax hike for people who live in unincorporated parts of the county to cover police service.
