Camp Thunderbird Counselor Drowns After Jumping From Buster Boyd Bridge

UPDATE: The York County Coroner’s office says Jerimiah Tate, 19, of Columbia has been identified as the drowning victim found after jumping off of the Buster Boyd Bridge early this morning.

An autopsy will be scheduled for this afternoon.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — AΒ 19-year-old Camp Thunderbird counselor drowned Monday morning, after he jumped off the Buster Boyd Bridge.

Authorities say a group of camp counselors were hanging out at the bridge, when two male counselors jumped off the bridge.Β  One came up, but he other did not resurface.

The teen’s body was recovered by the Charlotte Fire Department dive team around 4:30 a.m..
