Β ROWAN COUNTY, NC — The remains of a Vietnam veteran, missing in action for nearly 50 years, are back home in Rowan County.
WCCB Charlotte was there as a plane carrying the remains of Chief Master Sergeant Edwin Morgan arrived at Charlotte-Douglas this morning. Β Family members and the Patriot Guard were there for the homecoming.
“It’s definitely an honor for us to be able to stand for someone who stood for us and served our country,” said Rick Shinn of the Patriot Guard. Β “These guys love the freedom of riding motorcycles, but they also know that that freedom isn’t free.”
Morgan and six other members of his crew died in 1966 when their Air Force plane was shot down in Laos during a night mission. Β There is a funeral service for Morgan this Saturday in Rockwell.
