Β CHARLOTTE, NC — Safety on the football field is a huge issue, especially in light of all the concussion concerns at every level.
Developing a better and safer game for players was was the mission for a youth football clinic at Bank of America Stadium Friday. Β The Heads Up Football program focuses on teaching coaches how to reduce helmet contact and concussions.
“Very important that we make sure as coaches that we’re teaching a proper technique of tackling and blocking, for the safety of our players,” said Travis Perry of Heads Up Football.
Player safety coaches from USA Football will help school districts implement the program. Β They’ll also monitor practices and games throughout the season.
