OCRACOKE, N.C. — Another shark attack reported at a beach in North Carolina. Officials say a 68-year-old male who was swimming in the National Park Service day use area on Ocracoke Island was bitten around 12:30pm.
Officials say the man was swimming approximately 25-30 feet offshore in waist-deep water with his adult son. No other swimmers were injured during the attack.
The victim has various injuries to his left lower torso and hip, lower left leg and both hands. He was treated on the scene and then transported by ambulance to the Ocracoke Airport for transport via medical helicopter to Pitt Memorial in Greenville, North Carolina.
