CHARLOTTE, NC —Β Wildlife officers will be out all weekend patrolling Lake Wylie. Β Thousands of people pack the lake each Fourth of July to see the big fireworks show.

The Department of Natural Resources says it’s the busiest boating night of the year. Β Officials say they’ll be on the lookout for drunk drivers.

“We want you to have a designated driver if there’s going to be alcohol on board your boat. We want people to wear their life jackets,” said Wildlife OfficerΒ Tracy Dula.Β

Officials say families can enjoy free fishing for the holiday. Β That offer is for Saturday only.
