CHARLOTTE, NC — Drivers in northwest Charlotte will soon get a little relief from congestion.  The state has awarded a $4.8 million contract to finish the I-485 interchange at Oakdale Road near Mount Holly Road.

The ramps were left unfinished during the initial I-485 construction, with the original plan being to wait for development in the area, but that never happened.

“There’s a lot of traffic now; it’ll probably get worse,” said northwest Charlotte resident Billy Greer.  “But it needs to be fixed.  They should have fixed it when they built the road to start with.”

Construction could start as soon as July 27th.  The project includes roundabouts on Oakdale Road.  The work should be completed by November 2016.
