COLUMBIA, SC — Friday’s decision in Columbia could also have an economic boost.

The South Carolina Chapter of the NAACP say it will lift a 15-year economic boycott of the state.  The civil rights group imposed the boycott in 2000 when legislators voted to keep the Confederate flag on the State House grounds.

“South Carolina removing that symbol of bigotry, hatred and white supremacy, South Carolina said we now we want to treat everybody as they should be treated.  Once the sanctions, the national organization lifts the sanctions, and that will be soon, within a matter of hours,” said SC NAACP President Lonnie Randolph.

The NAACP has already lifted its ban on Championship games in the Palmetto State.
