WEDDINGTON, NC — The Weddington Town Council wrapped up a meeting Monday night on a plan to terminate a service agreement with the Providence Volunteer Fire Department. It’s a story WCCB Charlotte first told you about back in April.
Last week, the fire department added more complaints to a lawsuit against the town over what they say is a breach of contract.
Weddington residents also want to keep the fire service in tact. Close to 1,000 people have signed a petition asking the town to reconsider its decision.
“We should have never been here. This is ridiculous,” said Weddington resident Andrew Moore. “This is a mayor that obviously doesn’t want to get reelected in November, because he doesn’t want to listen to any of his constituents, or any of his residents.”
Three depositions are scheduled for later this month.
