ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — A man accused of robbing a bank at knife point was caught during a traffic stop Wednesday night. Investigators tell WCCB, 61-year-old Randy Asbury is now in the Davidson County Jail. Β He’s accused of robbing theΒ Β NewBridge Bank on Highway 52 in Davidson County at knife point.Β After receiving the money, Asbury reportedly drove off in a stolen car but later crashed near a wooded area in East Spencer.Β
According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Asbury was released from a medium security facility in West Virginia in June and was supposed to report to a halfway house in Charlotte. Investigators say he never showed up.Β
In 2003, authorities say Asbury committed a similar bank robbery also in Davidson County.
