Confederate Monument Vandalized In Uptown Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Officials say a Confederate monument at Old City Hall in Uptown has been vandalized.

The granite monument on Trade Street was sprayed painted with the words “Racist”.

Documents say the monument was placed at Old City Hall by the Confederate Memorial Association of Charlotte in 1977.

City council voted 5-1 in favor of allowing this organization to place the monument in this location.

No arrests have been made in the case.
