MLB-ALL-STAR GAME
AL beats NL in Midsummer Classic
CINCINNATI (AP) — Make it three straight wins for the American League in the All-Star game.
Game MVP Mike Trout homered on the game’s fourth pitch and Brian Dozier added a solo blast in the eighth inning of the AL’s 6-3 win over the National League at Cincinnati. Trout went deep off NL starter Zack Greinke (GREHN’-kee), who entered the All-Star break on a streak of 35 2/3 scoreless innings. Greinke struck out four of the last six hitters he faced.
The Junior Circuit went ahead to stay with a two-run fifth off loser Clayton Kershaw. Prince Fielder snapped a 1-1 tie with an RBI single before Lorenzo Cain doubled home Albert Pujols (POO’-hohlz).
Andrew McCutchen led off the bottom of the sixth with a home run to get the Senior Circuit within 3-2, a half-inning after Jacob deGrom (deh-GRAHM’) struck out the side on just 10 pitches. But the AL padded its lead on Fielder’s sac-fly in the sixth and Dozier’s eighth-inning blast.
Fielder finished with two RBIs and Manny Machado chipped in an RBI double as the American League won despite only seven hits.
David Price struck out two in a hitless fourth inning to get the win.
The National now leads the overall series 43-41-2
Pete Rose received a long ovation as he made a rare on-field appearance before the game. Rose, Johnny Bench, Barry Larkin and Joe Morgan were introduced on the field after being voted the Cincinnati Reds’ Franchise Four players as part of a Major League Baseball promotion.

Kromer on paid leave
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Buffalo Bills President Russ Brandon says offensive line coach Aaron Kromer has been put on paid administrative leave after being accused of punching a boy in the face for using his beach chairs.
Brandon says the team is following the league’s personal conduct policy, putting Kromer on leave while investigating with the league.
The Walton County Sheriff’s Office says Kromer was arrested and charged with battery that caused bodily harm over the weekend after confronting two boys, pushing one to the ground and punching him. An arrest report released this week says the boy told deputies that Kromer threatened to kill his family if he reported the incident.

CYCLING-TOUR DE FRANCE
11th stage underway
CAUTERETS, France (AP) — After crushing his top opponents a day earlier, Chris Froome is wearing the Tour de France leader’s yellow jersey and the pack has set off for a tough 11th stage over six mountain climbs.
More Pyrenean punishment looms in Wednesday’s stage over the famed Tourmalet pass and five lesser ascents along a 117-mile loop in deep southern France.
Froome’s dominant performance — like when he won the Tour in 2013 — has revived suspicions about doping that has plagued cycling. The British rider says he is clean, and he has never tested positive for doping.
