CHARLOTTE, NC —Β With the lingering concerns about church safety,Β CMPD and theΒ MecklenburgΒ CountyΒ Sheriff’sΒ Office will host aΒ House ofΒ Worship SeminarΒ later this month.

The program will focus on personal safety, building security and how to respond to an active shooter. Β Officer Chris Kopp says the seminar is in response to requests from several area churches.

“Help our church, or temple, or synagogue with safety, and we started to do ones and twos but again we’ve identified over 850 just here in Mecklenburg. We were trying to find a way to reach out to a majority of them,” said Officer Kopp.

The seminar is July 31. Β Your house of worship doesn’t have to be in Mecklenburg County to participate.
